First responders took two drivers involved in a Saturday motor vehicle collision on Egan Drive near Fred Meyer to the hospital for treatment, police said.
Juneau Police Department spokesperson Erann Kalwara said in a phone interview on Monday that the incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. when a 75-year-old woman driving a silver Ford Taurus was making a left on Egan Drive toward the Fred Meyer store. Her vehicle collided with a black Nissan driven by a 39-year-old woman who had five children as her passengers.
Capital City Fire/Rescue was on the scene after the accident and took both drivers to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment and examinations, Kalwara said. Some of the children involved had minor injuries and bleeding, but it does not appear they suffered major injuries. They were also taken to the hospital, but Kalwara said that may have been to stay with their guardian.
Police have not issued any citations related to the incident.
