ANCHORAGE — The National Park Service has found a boat that capsized and put six men into the cold water of Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park.
Spokesman Tom VandenBerg said the agency has not determined the cause of the accident Monday afternoon that killed 75-year-old Larry Roger McWilliams and his son, 48-year-old Gary Roger McWilliams.
Four others were rescued, including a man who swam to shore and signaled a boat for help.
Park Service and private boats came to the assistance of the stranded men.
VandenBerg said their 27-foot boat was found Tuesday in 25 feet of water near Strawberry Island about 10 miles from park headquarters at Bartlett Cove.
The boat had left Bartlett Cove to fish.
VandenBerg said some of the men likely were not wearing life jackets.
