Construction has begun at Cope Park, but contractors have experienced some delays in the installation of the utility lines, according to a Tuesday city press release. The park and the access road into the park are expected to be open again by June 1.
The Christopher Trail and Ball Field can be accessed by the Seventh Street Stairway or the Flume Trail; however, intermittent closures of these access routes are anticipated during the same timeframe.
Construction of the park will continue throughout the summer season.
In the release, the city apologized for any inconvenience and suggested using one of the other nearby parks downtown, such as Capital School Park (located at Fifth and Seward Streets) or Chicken Yard Park (located at the corner of Sixth and Kennedy Streets).
