ANCHORAGE — The Anchorage Office of Emergency Management is warning of high winds that could hit the city.
Emergency officials said a powerful storm system in the Bering Sea will bring a strong front through southcentral Alaska.
It’s expected to arrive Tuesday night and stay through Wednesday afternoon.
A high-wind watch is in effect for that time for homes at higher elevations in south Anchorage, along Turnagain Arm and in Eagle River.
Emergency officials said winds could reach 30-45 mph with gusts to 65 mph at lower elevations.
At higher elevations, winds could blow 50-65 mph with gusts as high as 100 mph.
Officials said people should prepare for loose debris causing damage and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.
