ANCHORAGE — An Anchorage man is being held on suspicion of felony assault following a shooting Thursday night in Anchorage’s Spenard neighborhood.
Police say 21-year-old Cody Randall Hess is also being held on suspicion of weapons misconduct and reckless endangerment.
Anchorage police just after 8:30 p.m. took a call from a man at a gas station saying he’d been shot near west 37th Avenue and Wyoming Drive. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
Police found Hess a few block away.
Investigators say the shooting victim had asked Hess to leave the area, and after exchanging words, Hess produced a gun and fired shots at the other man.
Police say they didn’t know each other.
