ANCHORAGE — Police trying to resolve a standoff in south Anchorage are dealing with a second standoff in east Anchorage.
A man suspected of assaulting his partner early Thursday barricaded himself inside a home off Dowling Road near Lake Otis Parkway.
Police at 3:30 a.m. received a call from a woman who said her adult daughter had been assaulted and threatened. The younger woman was at first prevented from leaving but escaped.
Police said the man is likely armed and may be on drugs. Police have obtained a warrant for his arrest.
The other standoff began Wednesday. Workers trimming trees for a power company reported a man stepped out of his home, ordered them away and fired shots.
Police attempted to deploy gas to force him out but report more shots fired.
