ANCHORAGE — Anchorage police have responded to a 15-car pileup amid snowy conditions in the state’s largest city.
Police said in a release that the inbound lanes of the Glenn Highway were closed about 1 p.m. Friday near Boniface Parkway after the 15-car collision.
Police reported numerous accidents after the snow started falling earlier Friday.
National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Clay says the city could expect up to 1 inch of snow in Friday’s storm. This is the first measurable snow since Feb. 21, when 1.8 inches fell before quickly melting.
Before the Feb. 21 storm, Anchorage went 37 days without measurable snow.
