PALMER — An Anchorage woman escaped serious injury Sunday afternoon when a semi smashed into her pickup, sending it rolling into a swamp off the Glenn Highway.
Alaska State Troopers said 43-year-old Holly Slinkard’s pickup rolled multiple times and stopped upside-down. She was transported to a hospital and released.
Investigators said 43-year-old Patrick Crandall of Wasilla was driving a tractor-trailer south near Mile 33 when he drifted across two lanes, careened through the median and continued into northbound lanes.
Multiple cars evaded the semi but it struck Slinkard’s pickup just behind the driver’s door.
The semi sheared the back off the pickup and sent it rolling.
The tractor-trailer had severe front-end damage and also landed in the swamp.
Crandall and a passenger suffered cuts. All in the crash wore seat belts.
