Anchorage’s Loussac Library temporarily closes for remodel

ANCHORAGE — Anchorage’s main library is closing for renovations.

Anchorage television station KTUU reported the 30-year-old Z.J. Loussac Library will reopen Tuesday after a book circulation and checkout desk are moved to the first floor.

RIM Architects is designing a $15 million remodel of the library and one of the main changes will be public access.

Outside stairs will be demolished. The stairs would ice up each winter and were considered unsafe.

Starting Tuesday, library patrons will enter through a temporary side entrance.

All improvements are scheduled to be completed by spring 2017.
