The Alaska Marine Highway System will cease serving Angoon, Pelican and Tenakee Springs starting Jan. 12 as the ferry LeConte begins a scheduled overhaul.
The overhaul was announced late last year, but the Marine Highway sent an update Tuesday about the process.
“Other communities primarily served by the LeConte will experience reduced service during the overhaul period,” the ferry system announced by email.
The LeConte’s absence presages more outages expected next winter, when budget cuts will take ferries out of service at the same time still others will be offline due to scheduled maintenance.
