A special mid-day trip to the Mount Roberts Tramway may have to make its way into your daily plans as the Coast Guard Cutter John McCormick will be docked at the intermediate vessel float pier at 1 p.m. today.
The 21st Sentinel-class cutter, officially homeported at Coast Guard Base Ketchikan, will be stationed in Juneau as part of the Arctic Edge maritime event. Representatives from the CG 17th District, CG Sector Juneau, Naval Surface and Mine Development Center, Mine Countermeasure Division-31 and Pacific Fleet will be in attendance at this invite-only event.
Arctic Edge is a biennial joint exercise that takes places across Alaska. Members of the Navy and Coast Guard gathering to discuss how to clear naval mines or other water-born explosives in an Alaska port.
