An armed man robbed the Juneau Petco Tuesday afternoon, and had not been located by police as of 5:30 p.m.
The Juneau Police Department released surveillance video of the suspect on its Facebook page, asking the public for help identifying him but warning that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
A Petco employee called 911 at about 3:32 p.m. and reported the store had been robbed at gunpoint, JPD spokeswoman Erann Kalwara said in a press release.
JPD officers responded and began an investigation and search of the area for the suspect. It was not known if he fled the area on foot or in a vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white man, 25-30 years old, about 6-foot-3, thin build with scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a baseball cap and a dark sweatshirt with light colored sleeves, and had the hood pulled up over the cap. The suspect’s pants were dark, possibly Carhartt-style.
“The suspect may still be armed and the public should not attempt to contact the suspect,” Kalwara said. Any information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts can be provided to JPD at 586-0600 or online at juneaucrimeline.com.
The investigation is ongoing.
