Arrest made in connection to gunshots that prompted school lockdown

A 38-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

A 38-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center after gunshots were reported Tuesday in an area near Thunder Mountain High School, according to Juneau Police Department.

Jasmine Marie Miller was arrested on charges of second-degree theft, a class C felony; fourth-degree misconduct involving weapons, a class A misdemeanor; and fifth-degree misconduct involving weapons, a class B misdemeanor, according to police.

Miller was taken in for questioning Tuesday afternoon shortly after several gunshots were reported in the area of Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei Trail, also known as Brotherhood Bridge Trail, which is near Thunder Mountain High School, according to police. The high school was briefly locked down while police responded to the reported gunshots.

While investigating, police received a call from a family member of the suspect, who reported the theft of a firearm from their residence, according to police. The caller said they believed the firearm had been stolen by the suspect.
