In keeping with the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, attorneys will be on hand at two different Juneau locations on Monday to provide residents free legal advice.
The attorneys are volunteering to discuss any legal topic — from Medicare, Medicaid, estate planning and probate, child custody and support, divorce, rental properties and social security — for those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Alaska Legal Services in the Jordan Creek Center (8800 Glacier Highway, Suite 228), then at the downtown Juneau courthouse (Fourth and Main Streets) from 1-4 p.m.
The event is part of a long-running public service project hosted by various local and state entities: The Alaska Bar Association, Alaska Court System, Alaska Legal Services Corporation, Alaska Public Media and the Juneau Bar Association.
This year marks the seventh year of the project. Similar events also take place in Anchorage and Fairbanks on Monday.
