Those looking to take in the view at Auke Recreation Area on Tuesday morning will have to wait a few hours.
Due to hazard tree removal work, the U.S. Forest Service will close the street to the recreation area, commonly referred to as Auke Rec. The closure will occur from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, June 27.
Auke Rec is located 14 miles from downtown Juneau and a mile and a half north of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal. It rests on the site of the Auke Tlingit Natives and includes 11 picnic sites and views of Auke Bay.
