Bartlett Regional Hospital is instituting a no-visitors policy in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a release from the hospital.
The policy, which means no visitors will be allowed into the building at any time, is effective as of 3 p.m. April 8, according to BRH. Attempts will be made to supply as much information and remote contact with patients as possible.
The hospital noted multiple exemptions to the policy.
Those include: A patient’s significant other, a partner to a mother in labor, one parent or guardian of a child, a legally authorized representative of a protected or high-risk patient, one visitor for a patient whose death is impending unless COVID-19 infection is likely and law enforcement.
Other exemptions may be approved by the house supervisor or administrator on call.
Any visitor fitting one of the exclusion criteria will be required to stay in the room with the patient at all times, according to BRH. A swapping in and out of support person or approved visitor won’t be allowed.
The cafeteria will also be closed to any visitors, according to BRH. Patients with visitors meeting the criteria to remain in the room will receive a guest meal provided in the room.
