ANCHORAGE — The remains of two more U.S. service members who died in a plane crash outside Anchorage in 1952 have been identified.
The Alaska Dispatch News reportED the Air Force has identified the men as Air Force Capt. Walter Perrin Tribble and Airman 2nd Class Bernis F. White.
The two men died alongside the other 50 people on board the C-124 Globemaster after it crashed into Mount Gannett near Colony Glacier.
The plane and the remains were discovered in 2012 by a passing helicopter pilot. Every summer since, armed forces recovery teams have returned to the glacier in search of more remains and plane parts buried beneath the ice.
In addition to the remains of Tribble and White, remains from 17 of the 52 victims have been recovered and identified.
