ANCHORAGE — Authorities say a body believed to be that of a missing Air Force airman from Texas has been found in an Alaska lake where he had been kayaking.
Alaska State Troopers said the body was recovered by searchers Thursday afternoon from Eklutna (ee-KLOOT’-nah) Lake in Anchorage and is believed to be that of 20-year-old Robert Brown.
Brown, an airman first class, was last seen at the lake May 16. He was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. A military official says Brown’s hometown can’t be disclosed.
Troopers said the body is being sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy and positive identification.
Troopers said the Alaska National Guard was involved in the search, which included diverse and sonar equipment.
