Juneau Police Department was notified around 8:14 p.m. Thursday, July 25, that a body was found on the beach in the area of Echo Cove, according to a press release from the department.
The body was found at the tide line on the beach and Capital City Fire/Rescue brought in a boat to help remove the person.
JPD said in the press release the beach is accessed by walking a half mile down a trail and another half mile along the beach.
Neither the individual’s identity nor the cause of death have been determined.
The body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
JPD’s investigation is ongoing.
