ANCHORAGE — A teenager at a Wasilla home was shot and wounded Thursday by a second teenager handling a gun.
Alaska State Troopers took a call on the incident at about 11:30 p.m. and said alcohol and controlled substances were factors in the incident.
Troopers say a 17-year-old boy was handling the loaded gun when it fired, striking a 16-year-old boy.
The injured boy was transported to Mat-Su Regional Hospital. Troopers say his injuries are not life-threatening.
A 20-year-old Wasilla man with an outstanding warrant also was at the home. Troopers say 20-year-old Jared Mayer had been arrested previously on a charge of consuming alcohol as a minor.
He was taken to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with bail set at $100. He was no longer in custody Friday.
