ANCHORAGE — Katelynn Zanders got a lot of bling Saturday night.
Zanders and her University of Alaska Anchorage teammates took part in an on-court celebration after the Seawolves swept Western Oregon in three games to claim the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season championship title in volleyball.
KTVA reported the team gathered a big huddle at mid-court. But then the other players fanned out to reveal Zanders’ boyfriend bended on one knee, holding a big, shiny engagement ring.
Jacob A. Raygor asked if she would be his wife.
Zanders, a 5-foot-9 senior outside hitter from Anchorage, fought through tears to say, “Yes.”
He told KTUU that he was nervous, and proposing before 2,000 people was definitely outside his comfort zone. In fact, he had hoped the match would have stretched out to five games so he would have more time to get his courage up.
