The Capital City Fire/Rescue Fire Marshal’s office has issued a reminder that today is the end of the open burn season for certain Juneau areas.
Residents in the Mendenhall Valley and Lemon Creek areas are prohibited to conduct open burns between Oct. 1 through April 30. The Fire Marshal’s office warns that cooler temperatures and inadequate air movement may create excessive smoke conditions which could impact neighbors.
For residents outside of the burn ban area, the conditions of regular burn permits must still be followed. Burn permits are free and available online at www.juneau.org/ccfr/forms/burnpermit/
