The Juneau Police Department has reported an unusual single-vehicle accident on Glacier Highway.
According to police, about 1 a.m. Saturday, a car crashed near 20 Mile Glacier Highway. A 911 caller reported the vehicle’s passenger lying on the ground with injuries to his face.
When police and Capital City Fire/Rescue arrived on the scene, they found the driver had fled the area in another vehicle. Police tracked down the 19-year-old driver about one hour after the accident.
The injured passenger was identified in a press release as a 20-year-old man from Juneau.
According to police, the investigation is continuing and charges are pending. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the accident.
