A downtown pedestrian was struck by a car Dec. 30.
According to the Juneau Police Department, officers received a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle about 4 p.m. Friday. Capital City Fire/Rescue took the pedestrian to Bartlett Regional Hospital, and a police department statement indicated she was in stable condition.
According to JPD’s account of events, a 53-year-old driver was southbound on Main Street and preparing to turn into the Sealaska Center parking lot.
At the same time, a 56-year-old woman was crossing the street outside a crosswalk and stood near a concrete road divider.
The driver turned his car and didn’t see her. The impact knocked the woman to the ground, and the man immediately stopped to render aid.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, JPD said.
