CBJ kicks off road reconstruction in the Valley

The work begins this week, release says.

Construction will begin on Columbia Boulevard and Poplar Avenue this week, according to a release from the City and Borough of Juneau.

Contractors from Coogan Construction will be rebuilding the road that is located in a residential area of the Mendenhall Valley. Work is expected to take place from 7 a.m to 5:30 p.m. from Monday through Satuday, according to CBJ. While the project is underway pedestrian and vehicle traffic, delays, detours and one-way traffic schemes may take place.

The work is part of a larger project which will take at least two years, spread across a number of phases. Phase 1 is expected to be completed this summer. Phase 2 is scheduled for 2021.
