The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly will hold a special meeting Monday at 5 p.m. to discuss filling the District 2 seat left vacant Wednesday when Assemblywoman Karen Crane resigned to run in the upcoming special mayoral election.
The Assembly recently filled a vacant District 1 seat left empty when Mary Becker, then deputy mayor, stepped into the late mayor’s seat in November. After interviewing four applicants, the Assembly appointed Barbara Sheinberg to that open seat last Tuesday. The Assembly will have to go through a similar process to fill Crane’s seat.
The Assembly will spend a portion of Monday’s meeting in executive session conducting phone interviews with city manager candidates.
