The City and Borough of Juneau Water Utility will begin flushing the water distribution system today.
Work is scheduled to begin downtown, working north to Bartlett Regional Hospital, crossing over to Douglas, then toward the Lemon Creek area, proceeding to the Valley and finally ending in the Tee Harbor area.
This process will take place 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The work will tentatively end May 31.
According to a statement by the city, customers may encounter water discoloration or minor disruptions in service. To clear the discoloration, customers should wait until the work crew leaves the area, then run the cold water tap (preferably in a bathtub) until the water runs clear.
The city advises residents watch for crews working in the roadway, use caution and obey traffic controls.
