The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly Committee of the Whole may decide which organization will take over the former Juneau Youth Services building during its work session meeting at Assembly Chambers, 6 p.m. Monday.
Lands Manager Greg Chaney sent the Lands and Resources Committee’s recommendations over to the Assembly for consideration after narrowing down the list to three potential candidates. The committee decided on three potential applicants for the 9290 Hurlock Ave. vacancy.
The three applicants the committee picked during the Lands Committee’s Feb. 26 meeting are: Gehring Nursery School, assisted living facility Alaska Legacy Partners and mental illness support and recovery center Polaris House. Aunt Margaret’s House, transitional housing for people coming out of prison, and Prama Home, a child- and senior-care facility, were the other two applicants. The Lands Committee was presented all five during its Feb. 12 meeting.
The Assembly will go over the applicants and may make a decision on any of them or decide to sell the property at fair market value.
If the fair market value decision is made, a sealed competitive bid process will be held, according to the memo.
The Assembly will also hear a presentation from Bartlett Regional Hospital discussing its finance report among other topics.
Public Works and Facilities Committee looking into Centennial Hall management
The day-to-day operational management of Centennial Hall will be the major topic of discussion during the CBJ Public Works and Facilities Committee regular meeting at Assembly Chambers, 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The Assembly was presented a potential agreement between CBJ and Juneau Arts and Humanities Council during its Feb. 26 meeting work session. During that meeting, Assembly members agreed they did not have enough information and the agreement should go through the committee process before returning to the Assembly.
If an agreement were reached, it would last for five years with possibilities of renewals thereafter. The CBJ would have oversight of operational plans, budget, the facility and governance and daily operations would be handled by the JAHC.
