City meeting will shed light on grant application process

If you’re interested in the finding one way a community project can get funding, a meeting at City Hall Tuesday night is the place to be.

At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall Conference Room 224, members of the Community Development department will lead a public meeting about the Community Development Grant Program. The program provides grants for projects that will benefit low to moderate-income individuals, such as housing.

Through this program, a project could be eligible for a grant of up to $850,000. City and Borough of Juneau staff members evaluate project proposals and select one application that will compete against other proposals from around the state. The Alaska Department of Commerce and Economic Development’s Division of Community and Regional Affairs will ultimately disperse federal grant funds to projects. The meeting is scheduled to go until 7 p.m.

Tuesday’s meeting will inform people about the application process, eligible projects and the timeline of applications. For more information, contact Community Development Planner Laurel Bruggeman at 586-0761 or laurel.bruggeman@juneau.org.
