On July 27, city officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at the intersection of Jackie and Renninger streets in Lemon Creek to celebrate the new road into the Renninger Subdivision.
The ceremony will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Several city officials, including City Manager Rorie Watt, will speak during the ceremony. Parking will be available in the Dzantik’i Heeni Middle School lot.
The city is celebrating the completion of Jackie Street, the road leading into the subdivision, which is the first major city subdivision to be completed in 17 years. The subdivision is capable of supporting 189 new housing units, including apartments, condos and single-family homes.
“We encourage the community to know the ins and outs of a project that has come in below the estimated construction costs, while maintaining high quality construction by a skilled contractor,” Watt said in a release issued by the city. “The Jackie Street ribbon cutting is a chance for Juneau residents to come see the road they’ve built to more housing for our town.”
