A news brief on page A2 of the Empire on Friday said the FVF Fairweather experienced a mechanical issue that required the vessel to be repaired in drydock, based on a state press release. The Fairweather will not have to be drydocked.
Also based on an incorrect state press release, the Empire reported the MV Columbia would have to be drydocked in Ketchikan. The state later issued a correction, saying the ferry would be drydocked in Portland instead of Ketchikan. “After we sent the first announcement we received word from the Ketchikan shipyard that they had mistakenly double-booked the dry dock and it would not be available in time for the Columbia,” a state Department of Transportation spokesman said in an email.
