In a brief news item that ran in the Outdoors section of the Empire on May 20, titled “Alaskans ask for improved protections for waters, fish,” the Empire erroneously attributed a news release from the state Department of Natural Resources as the source of information. The news release was from an advocacy group, Nunamta Aulukestai, Caretakers of Our Land, which is comprised of tribal corporations and tribal governments that oppose the development of the Pebble Project.
