In the Fourth of July spirit, this Friday’s free Rock Around the Block Party at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center will be modeled as a county fair.
“It’s a family-friendly event,” said JACC executive assistant Meghan Chambers. “We usually have hula hoops and there are a lot of kids dancing.”
The party takes place from 5-7 p.m. at the JACC. The Juneau Marching Band will perform from 5-6 p.m. and Juneau Pride Chorus from 6-7 p.m.
The Rendevous Bar will provide a beer garden for the adults. Fair food specials by Happy Camper (Mexican corn on the cob) and Pucker Wilson’s (funnel cake) will be served.
The farmers market will feature locally grown vegetables and pickled foods by Panhandle Produce and locally made soaps and lotions by Homesteader’s Cache. Grace’s Fashion Design will be selling her hand sewn Alaska Native kuspuks.
Juneau Fine Arts Camp will display some of their visual art at the gallery and the JACC will be selling popcorn and floral arrangements by Miss Scarlets.
