JUNEAU — The deadline for entering the annual Denali National Park and Preserve road lottery is approaching.
People can enter online and by phone through Tuesday for a chance to be able to drive their personal vehicle along the park road after the summer tourist season ends.
During the summer, shuttle buses are the main mode of transportation for visitors entering the park, with private vehicles generally only allowed on the first 13 miles of the 92-mile road.
The park, in a release, said this year’s lottery days will be Sept. 16, 18, 19 and 20. The release states that Sept. 17 will be dedicated to active duty service members and their families stationed in Alaska, with permits for them distributed internally.
Weather and road conditions could impact how far into the park lottery winners are able to go.
