An important decision-making event for Docks & Harbors has been delayed.
Every couple of years, the Docks & Harbors board of directors gets together for a Strategic Planning Repeat to run down its long list of priorities and put together a plan for how to spend its money best. This year’s retreat was scheduled for this coming Saturday, but it will have to wait.
Due to the lack of a quorum for the event, it has been pushed back indefinitely, per a release Thursday. The board needed to have at least five of the nine board members to have a quorum, and not enough of the members would have been able to attend this Saturday. A new date for the retreat was likely on the agenda at Thursday night’s regular Docks & Harbors meeting.
The retreat usually takes place in the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly Chambers, and usually takes up a large chunk of a Saturday. Port Admin Assistant Jennifer Shinn said Thursday that while finding an open Saturday is ideal, the board members are open to spreading the retreat over two weeknights at some point in the future.
