FAIRBANKS — A Fairbanks restaurant worker suspected of firing shots from the roof of the business has been charged with possessing a firearm as a felon.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported 28-year-old Damien Harris was arrested after police found 25 shell casings on the roof of the Food Factory.
Harris was convicted of robbery in 2007 and is prohibited from owning a gun.
Police shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday received a report of shots and spoke to restaurant employees. One employee reported seeing Harris with a gun in his hand.
Police found a backpack containing a .40-caliber handgun hidden in a plastic tub in the restaurant’s walk-in cooler. Police say the backpack belongs to Harris.
Sgt. Gary Yamamoto says Harris denied firing the shots.
Harris is free on bail.
