ANCHORAGE — Anchorage police closed lanes of one of the city’s busiest streets Friday as they investigated a fatal crash and a shooting.
Police just after 3 a.m. took a call of a two-car crash on east Fifth Avenue at Concrete Street near Merrill Field.
A man was ejected from one of the vehicles. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and he later died. The man has not been positively identified.
Police said they found evidence of a shooting in the same area.
They are trying to determine whether the shooting was a factor in the crash.
Police closed westbound lanes of Fifth Avenue from Karluk Street to Reeve Boulevard as they investigated.
