Fire marshal seeks info on Sunday boat fire

The fire marshal is asking anyone with information about a Mendenhall Valley boat fire early Sunday morning to come forward.

Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the 4000 block of Conifer Lane at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a boat fire. Responding fire crews found a Bayliner boat in a backyard “completely engulfed in flames,” according to a statement from CCFR Fire Marshal Dan Jager.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries. It wasn’t immediately known if the boat was insured.

Jager is investigating the cause of the fire and trying to determine where it originated. At this time, the cause is undetermined.
