Flume trail to close for summer

AEL&P to address ‘shifting and settling’ of historic structure

Alaska Electric Light & Power will close the Flume Trail for the summer 2019 for repairs.

Juneau’s electric utility announced Wednesday on Facebook the trail will be closed between April and September to address “shifting and settling” that has reduced the structure’s safety and efficiency, according to the post.

“AEL&P’s goal is to maintain this valued, historic project while ensuring safe and reliable conditions that allow us to provide renewable energy to Juneau customers, as well as allow CBJ Parks and Rec to preserve recreational access for you and your families well into the future,” the post read.
