A former Alaska lawmaker who was accused of hitting a woman earlier this year will plead guilty to a misdemeanor harassment charge as part of a negotiated agreement.
That’s according to Maria Bahr, a spokeswoman for the Alaska Department of Law.
She says that under a negotiation resolution, former state Rep. Zach Fansler would plead guilty to a count of harassment in the second degree.
She says a charging document will be filed in court “in the near future,” noting that court is closed on Friday afternoon.
It’s not clear if the resolution includes any kind of recommended sentence.
Fansler resigned in February after a woman said he hit her so hard it ruptured an eardrum.
A message seeking comment was left with Fansler’s attorney Friday.
