Sealaska Corp. has announced the death of former president and CEO Robert Loescher.
The news was delivered by email Friday afternoon. Loescher was of the Eagle moiety from the Chookeneidi clan. He was 68 years old.
Loescher joined Sealaska’s natural resources department in 1979, the company said. He was promoted to vice president in 1986 and executive vice president in 1989. He served as president and CEO from 1997 to 2001.
In a statement, current CEO Anthony Mallott said Loescher’s “dedication to our traditional livelihoods and connection to forest and land will be never forgotten.”
