Getting legal help can be a costly, timely process. This Monday, however, legal advice for people in four Alaska communities will be free.
This Monday marks the ninth annual MLK Day Free Legal Help clinic, as volunteer attorneys will provide free legal help in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and Palmer. Juneau is holding two clinics. The first will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Alaska Legal Services Corporation, located at 8800 Glacier Highway. The second will run from 1-4 p.m. at the Dimond Courthouse on Fourth Street downtown.
Attendees will be able to meet with lawyers about subjects including child support, child custody, divorce, eviction, foreclosure, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, employment and other non-criminal issues.
The event is hosted by the Alaska Bar Association, Alaska Court System, Alaska Legal Service Corporation and local bar associations. For more information on the event, see today’s opinion section.
