The Taylor White Foundation is hosting a free “Technical Teen Driver Training” event May 14-15 at Eaglecrest Ski Area.
The program aims to give drivers between the ages of 15 and 18, who have either a learner’s permit or a license and at least 40 hours behind the wheel, the ability to deal with a variety of different situations they may encounter behind the wheel. They’ll navigate a course that includes a skid control station, a distracted driving course, a sudden stop accident avoidance station, and a simulated “driving under the influence” station. One parent or significant adult for the teen must attend.
The instructors are all professional drivers from a program in Seattle.
The first session is May 14 from 8 am to 12 pm; the second is from 1 -5 pm; the third is May 15, from 8 am -12 pm, and the fourth is Sunday, May 15 from 1-5 p.m. The training is free, but a fee – which will be refunded once attendees complete training – is required to register.
