The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning for Wednesday afternoon.
Winds are expected to reach 35 knots with seven foot seas expected in the afternoon, as well as heavy rain. Rain and high winds are expected to persist until Thursday evening, according to the warning. The warning was issued early Wednesday morning and affects everything from the Dixon Entrance to Skagway.
All boat owners are reminded to check that boats are moored securely, that pumps are operating correctly, and that boats are not collecting undue rainwater.
The Coast Guard also reminds people to be smart, and not to invite unnecessary risk to life and property by going to sea in heavy weather, said Chief Petty Officer Matt Schofield.
