The structural demolition of the shuttered Gastineau Apartments is slated to start Monday, and once it does, all northbound traffic on North Franklin Street will come to a stop during work hours.
Project Engineer Rich Ritter said the work hours are subject to shift due to the nature of the work. Some days, it’s likely they will finish up by 4 p.m., and others it could be as late as 6 or 7 p.m.
Ritter said the building must be deemed stable at the end of the day before workers can go home.
Workers will begin demolishing the wall closest to the road first late next week; North Franklin will be closed day and night until that wall is completely down.
