Elliot “Chuck” Wimberly has been named the interim president and CEO of Goldbelt Inc., the company announced by email Wednesday.
Wimberly previously served as an interim president and CEO for Goldbelt in 2011 and joined the company in 2010 as vice president of government services. He replaces Richard Irwin, who departed the company at the end of 2015.
Irwin oversaw the sale of the downtown Goldbelt Hotel and a transition for the company toward government contracting and business development. Goldbelt is Juneau’s urban Native corporation, representing about 3,600 shareholders.
Wimberly previously served as president and CEO of Shee Atika’, Sitka’s urban Native corporation. He also has worked as a vice president for the Southern Ute Tribe in Durango, Colorado and has more than 20 years of government service, according to Goldbelt.
