Gov. Bill Walker was unharmed by a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck northern Japan early Tuesday morning local time (Monday afternoon Alaska time).
Walker was in Japan to participate in the 2016 Liquefied Natural Gas Producer-Consumer Conference, spokesperson Jonathon Taylor said by email, and he checked in with Alaska staff following the earthquake to confirm that he was unharmed.
According to reports from NHK, the Japanese national broadcaster, small tsunami were reported on Japan’s northeast coast and two people were reported injured.
