The Alaska Historical Society is making up to $1,000 available for projects studying the history of Alaska’s seafood canneries.
The project is part of the Alaska Historic Canneries Initiative, which is focusing on preserving the history of the hundreds of fish processing sites along Alaska’s shoreline.
Students, professional historians and those with a passion for the topic may apply for the grant.
Applications are due by Jan. 1 and will be awarded by Jan. 31. Projects must be complete by Dec. 31 and include a final report summarizing how the money was spent.
