Greens Creek mine on Admiralty Island is asking the state of Alaska for permission to continue using a disposal pipeline from its tailings facility to the ocean.
According to a public notice filed Friday, the mine has filed a request for a 25-year easement on state land to allow the mine to use the land for the pipeline. Dumping treated wastewater in the ocean is covered under a separate water quality permit.
The public is invited to comment on the proposed land use. Email sero@alaska.gov before 5 p.m. March 21. To see the full application, visit https://aws.state.ak.us/OnlinePublicNotices/Notices/View.aspx?id=180298
