Haines’ newest police officer accidently shot himself in the arm Tuesday afternoon, the Haines Police Department has announced.
According to a brief press release, officer Brayton Long, 52, “accidently shot himself in the lower arm while conducting firearms training.”
Long, who served as an officer with the Skagway Police Department for five years, was hired by Haines late last year.
After the incident, Long was taken to Haines Clinic and subsequently to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
